Need advise on MG Tracker 34 PRO trolling motor

That is the problem that started this thread: I am not able to find serial number or model number and the name "MotorGuide Tracker 34 Pro" does not show on the Web. I see "MG Tracker" models and "MG Pro" models, but no "MG Tracker Pro" models. And no 34# models. Maybe, it is too old... Boat is...

Need advise on MG Tracker 34 PRO trolling motor

As a plan B, can I take this new lower unit and just replace the whole thing? It has the same 4 wires (black, red, yellow, red). Thread on the pipe should be the same, right...

Need advise on MG Tracker 34 PRO trolling motor

You are right, I forgot to pay attention to polarities, but later I thought about it and try to test it with small magnet to see if they "suck"\"push" it differently. Test did not work. I even try to pry one magnet, but JB Weld holds strong. I was afraid to break it. It was stupid , but this...

Need advise on MG Tracker 34 PRO trolling motor

Hi, This motor had seized LU. Two out of 4 magnets got loose and when I tried to move them rest of 4 came of too. I glued them back , but when I apply the power now shaft moves ,but does not rotate. The armature test shows no continuity from copper clams to shaft, but zero resistance between all...

Yeah!! I think I just got lucky. One of the used parts sellers I contacted just got back to me saying that they have exact carb for this motor and for reasonable price. I placed the order and keep my fingers crossed....

1968 6 HP Evinrude need help

Yes, that was the first thing I checked because as I mentioned one loop of the tiller bracket was broken and repaired with the metal strip. There is no way to engage those two little gears between tiller and motor incorrectly without breaking them. Gears have teeth of different size, so they go...

1968 6 HP Evinrude need help

Lets go for the record! The saga continues: I replaced coils, condensers, points, spark plugs wires. Set gap to 0.022 and checked with strobe light to make sure timing line stays on first mark. So, ignition should not be an issue. Did not help. This is the problem again: Tiller handle in START...

Here is pictures of the holes for needles. Bottom one does not have paint traices as the top one, so most probably it was drilled by someone. I wonder if they just screw in HS needle to existing threads. This way I can put back the orifice if get it. Otherwise it is a lottery...

Crosbyman, but your picture shows HS needle with cone tip like mine, so it was not grinded. I checked Ebay and found original OMC manual for this specific model. It was not there a few weeks ago. Ordered it. They are the best comparing to generic manuals. No luck with carb parts so far.

What would you do at this point? I am stuck. I was not planning to spend a lot of money on this old motor, but now it is a quest. Do you think getting parts # 15, 42 and 43 will bring carb back to working original configuration or do I need different body for that? Do not want to throw away...

Color came after soaking in PineSol and washing with carb cleaner. Before it was usual. I attached pics of needles, LS is top(right) one. Also, manual I am using with carb pic that is exactly like mine. I am still thinking, is it possible someone grinded tip of HS needle (but why???). I wish...

I know it looks ugly, but I replaced aluminum cap with new one after cleaning, tapped it with the punch to expend and then put some black gasket maker silicon on the top just to feel more confident that it is sealed...

1968 6 HP Evinrude need help

The article in the link I put in response above (post #17). It says: " The carburetor shown below is the basic simple standard unit but from about 1971 on using the fixed main-jet style. Earlier motors prior to about 1970 had an adjustable main-jet in place of the #29 plug screw shown in the...

1968 6 HP Evinrude need help

According to article above, fixed HS jet started in 1971, so mine is legit (or it looks legit) HS needle. It is the same as LS needle ,but does not have long thin end like LS. It has short conic end . Now I am wondering if someone just grinded it after breaking. I wish it was an image of...

"do you have the fat washer installed at the bottom." Originally it was some fiber thread soaked in black stuff around HS needle. I cleaned it all , and put 2 small cork washers from rebuild kit exactly how it is on parts diagram. These washers get compressed by packing nut. I was not going to...
