Bravo 3 lower unit blown seals and corrosion

I had oil coming out through the prop and the gearcase so I was thinking both seals needed replacing, I guess I'll also need an o-ring for the drive shaft and a cap seal. I think the shafts will clean up - I haven't touched them yet.

Bravo 3 lower unit blown seals and corrosion

Sorry - forgot to mention that it is a 2005. I have the digital manual. I was checking out the engine yesterday and noticed that the lube reservoir had oil on the outside of it - it seems the oil might have been forced out of the cap? Maybe the gear oil got under pressure and pushed out where...

Bravo 3 lower unit blown seals and corrosion

I pulled my boat out of the water last week and noticed an oil leak and severe corrosion on my Bravo 3 outdrive. The oil was leaking through the prop and at the gear case and when I pulled off the lower unit, I could see oil coating the drive shaft. I got the carrier assembly out yesterday and...

Mercruiser MAG 350 MPI 2005 -No compression on one cylinder

Thank you for all the insight. It is currently wet slipped but I'd like to bring it home to work on the engine. The ramp is about 1/4 mile from the slip - can I start the engine and motor to the ramp or should I get a tow instead? I don't want to make things worse.

Mercruiser MAG 350 MPI 2005 -No compression on one cylinder

I have a 2005 MAG 350 MPI engine with a Bravo 3 outdrive both with about 350 hours on them. This is on a Bayliner 275. Late this summer season I started experiencing performance issues. I found the boat would not get on plane and WOT was about 3200RPM. At first I thought the outdrive was not...

2004 BF50 running rough - should removing top plug wire change RPM or tone of engine?

My 2004 BF50 is running rough. When I remove the top plug wire while the engine is running, nothing changes. When I remove one of the two lower plug wires then engine stalls. Does that mean my top cylinder is not firing (fuel and/or spark)?

2004 honda 50 smoke, power and compression

My 2004 Honda 50 4-stroke doesn't seem to have the power I would expect. This season I noticed light grey smoke often coming from the prop exhaust. I checked the valves and they are fine. Compression test varied between 160 and 170 PSI (manual suggest 212+-14 PSI). Should I be concerned that...
