Yep, no V5, but should make for a good MN fishing boat. Large enough for any of our bigger lakes, but still small enough to get on smaller water, fit in the garage, and be easily launched, trailered, etc.
Thread I posted in the Mercury forum regarding the existing trim unit on the '84 70hp Mercury:

Thanks! Is this what one would refer to as a dual or twin rod system? Are there different version used across the 70's and early 80's, or were they basically pretty standard?
My biggest dilemma is whether its worth punching additional holes through a new transom if I were eventually to...
Picked up a new project with a 1984 70hp Mercury hanging off the back with trim and an external (in the boat) pump. A bit different than the integrated trim I had on my 1987 Classic Fifty and 1987 35hp. What is the consensus on these trim units? Worth holding onto, or am I better off looking...
Stripped off some of the “littles”, windshield, etc. and parked it in my buddies barn for the winter. Rebuild will be on hold until I wrap up some other projects around the house, but good to know it’s going to be waiting for me. Plan to keep this one, we’ll see if the 3rd times a charm!
I'd highly suggest taking the time to apply Gluvit or Coat-it. With the floor out and other work being done, seems like a no brainer to me. I don't recall it being that tedious of a process. Almost like skipping the primer under paint...not a step I'd want to personally bypass.
Was going to wait until I actually had this one in hand, but I figured the journey is a big part of what we look forward to sharing here. Made an agreement with my wife that if I sold the 16SS after having taken up space in our garage and two different homes for a number of years, I could find...
Suppose I better close this one out before I open a new thread
Had a great summer with the 16SS and was able to get the kids on some good fish. Spent a full three days/nights on the water without any indication of leaking a drop, as well as a few different day trips. Still had...
I had good success rolling on the paint for my Nova, but it was a matte finish duck boat paint that didn't really need a quality finish. There's a lot of good information out there on the roll and tip method if you decide to go that route. I'd make sure you give the area plenty of time to fully...
Anyone have a good reference for heat shrink tubing sizes for wrapping multiple 16ga AWG wires together? I'm looking to extend a wiring harness and would rather not have three separate wires zip tied together along the length of the run. I'll be using the appropriate terminal connectors, just...
Greetings all,
Looking for some guidance in troubleshooting a 1987 Classic Fifty, 45hp with no spark to any cylinder. I have a spare switchbox, stator, and trigger on hand, but would like to rule out any concerns with the cable/controls/kill switch before swapping things out.
I was advised to...
I’m having a heck of a time with the shift and throttle control installation for my ‘87 Classic Fifty. Lost the NLA 10-38069 spring actuator screw for the shift cable retainer somewhere down the cowling. Anything to be worried about there, or is it all pretty much sealed down below? Also...
I have an 1987 Classic Fifty (45hp), serial B216418. It's been sitting for awhile and I need to do the impeller, carbs, and fuel pump. From what I can tell, the correct kit #'s I need to order are as follows:
Impeller kit - 18-3207
Carb kit(2) - 1395-9650 or 18-7226
Fuel pump kit - 18-7817...
