    What Octane Would You Use?

We are running a 1974 318 Chrysler inboard. What octane would you use? Another question....The PO ran the boat consistantly at 4000 rpm which keeps her on top a little more but she should, and does, sound better at around 3800. WOT rpm is about 4700. Reconditioned prop. Is it suggested I...

    Another Boat Ramp Blunder....Update

A friend keeps his boat at his dock on a river. I volunteered to drive her to the ramp (1 mile) and the owner was bringing the trailer to meet me there and pull her out. When I got to the ramp there was a truck and jet ski trailer setting in the loading area. The trailer partially in the water...

    Seacock for I/O?

Another thread got me wondering...as I am somewhat new to I/O boats. Appears not all have any means of closing off the raw water intake to the motor, as in a seacock. I am used to having a seacock and have depended on them in several occasions. I ran my 1st I/O yesterday, a Volvo Penta V8 in a...

My steel fuel tank is within a couple millimeters from the exhaust manifold. I guess it has been this way for along time. The boat was built in '74. A big chill went down my spine when I saw this. What do you think?

Just started a restoration of a 1974 Penn Yan. The fridge wouldn't work, for days, nothing. Removed her from the boat, she sat for a couple days, plugged her in again, nothing. A buddy moved her to another location and inadvertably set her on her side. Figuring I would give her one more chance...
