    3.0LX Mercruiser New Problem

Re: 3.0LX Mercruiser New Problem It's not rare to blow a head gasket, but it's very rare for the head gasket to blow and allow water into the oil on a raw water cooled engine. Cracked block or head are the normal causes for water in the oil. Have a look at this service bulletin.

    AQ231B Impeller

Re: AQ231B Impeller Instead of using the aftermarket parts that hope they fit, maybe you should order the OEM impeller kit PN 3862281

    AQ231B Impeller

Re: AQ231B Impeller I would bet that someone replaced the pump. Does it still have a pump with the thick base and long mounting bolts like the one shown below?

    NASCAR Roof cameras removed

First week of camera changes Seems to me after reading the article that Daytona and Dega would be the first places you wanted to remove the camera so the front car doesn't have the advantage and make them a bit more even. To much technology out there to not get that camera off the roof and...

What kind of boat would be good to start out with?

Re: What kind of boat would be good to start out with? There are sailing schools all over the place, take some lessons, learn how to sail. Or get yourself a small dingy sailboat and give it a try. If you like sailing, then find yourself a good used small trailerable sail boat around 20 feet...

    battery isolator

Re: battery isolator First, disconnect the battery before you start messing with the wiring. Then follow the instructions below. It's from a Merc manual, but it's the same setup as you have on our OMC. Couple of hints, disconnect the orange wire from the starter and the alternator. Tape...

    Crank raw water pump

Re: Crank raw water pump You take the Mercruiser serpentine belt pulley off the vibration dampner, then you install the Volvo pump/pulley assembly on the dampner so the notches line up and it sets flat. Then you put the belt back on. Then you hook up hoses. You are doing a one off conversion...

    Batteries not charging properly

Re: Batteries not charging properly You could have a bad battery. I have seen brand new batteries not hold a charge. As far as your 2 battery switches, how they work is impossible to say without knowing where all the wires are hooked up to. Had on customer that bought a boat you had to turn...

    no speed/no plane

Re: no speed/no plane He posted pictures on his other thread. http://forums.iboats.com/mercruiser-i-o-inboard-engines-outdrives/engine-wont-start-592360.html It has an automotive distributor (with the window to adjust the points), hard to tell about the rest. Was just looking at the cooling...

    yamaha 40 hp 2 stroke

Re: yamaha 40 hp 2 stroke Here is your model and serial number organized as they should be. 6H4 L 544784 U is the serial number. 40VETO is the model number of your motor. Big problem is, the numbering system isn't the same as US numbers. I have tried a few times to find a site with...

    Electrical wiring

Re: Electrical wiring The battery system doesn't care if it's on a pontoon boat or a race boat, it does the same thing. Here is one I drew up for another poster. Your wire sizes may change, but that would be about all. For the battery switch wiring to the motor and the house panel. None of...
