    120 OMC 2.5 chev. and it seems to be plenty for me. Fishing and diving Lake Huron. Got it last winter for $500 and have about $1500 into it. Haha so far. I know the list continues.

    Cheers QBhoy, I really like it, completely stripped out the inside(water and oil soaked foam, new floor and stringers) and still got half the summer in. Just did a carb rebuild and cleaned a filter full of sand out so looking forward to spring.

    Definetly food for thought thanks Kenny. Other than drag it doesn’t sound like it will harm anything so I think I’ll take a run with it still on and see what happens. If it is really noticeable I can remove it.

    I’m in southern Ontario so not far(4 hours) yes it does plane quick, excellent again thanks for the link racerone. I thought I just got to know this boat and find out it has a Frankenstein outdrive. Thanks again guys for your help.

    Roger that, I will be fixing the tach but will run it on the meter to see what rpm I will get. For service reasons should I be looking for a omc sterndrive 800 series parts catalog for the bottom end?

    Yes, two of my many winter projects. I have heard that a prop like a 15x13 would also give me higher rpms and faster top speed. I won’t be pulling skiers or boarders so I’m not worried about the hole shot. Thanks Kenny for the info, just my luck to get a hybrid.

    I know that my tach is not working right it would max out at about 3200 and fishfinder says 24 mph motor is running nice but not giving max rpm. Select trim is stuck in the up position so I’m on plane in a heartbeat. The pro is a 3 blade aluminium 15x17.

    The choke seems to be working fine I’m concerned about the exhaust leak where the heat exchanger tube comes out of the front of the exhaust manifold thinking that the carb is sucking that exhaust when the doghouse goes down. And also thanks for the gauge idea.

    Thanks flashback I think I’ve tried everything else and after recovering the seats and doghouse I think it’s just too airtight in there. I’m going to put a hole in it and see what happens. Thanks to everyone for your help. I will report back after I Swiss cheese the doghouse. Cheers, Mark.

    It takes about 20 seconds as soon as I close it before it wants to start chugging and stall

    Yes the back vents are clear and open. As soon as the doghouse goes down you notice the idle slow down

    Hi guys I have just noticed that I am missing the flame arrester gasket that goes between the flame arrester and carb would this have anything to do with it chugging when the doghouse goes down? Thanks again, Mark.

    Thanks hugh g , I tried it with the flame arrester off and it started to chug as soon as the doghouse went back down. I will check for any blockage.
