Alpha One Gen 1- Reassembly bellows questions...

SO, finally got my trim sensors replaced, now it's time to reassemble the rest of the drive. I have watched a few videos, looked over the factory manual, and I think I am ready! I got all Mercruiser original parts, adhesive, and tools on hand, but want to make sure I have the sequence down. Any...

Alpha one, Gen 1 trim wire retainer bolts?

Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement. I got it in, using\a right angle screw driver to align the top bolt, tighten the bottom one a bit and used my fingers to get it started. Then I used my 1/4 flex socket to put it in.... Next step coming up.......

Alpha one, Gen 1 trim wire retainer bolts?

Replacing the trim wire sensors on my 1986 Mercruiser. Got it all apart, and was running the new trim wire sensors. On the wire retainer, I can get the bolt on the bottom easily, but the top one is not wanting to thread in. I have tried it with the bottom loose, tight and in-between, and I can't...

I think I found where my drive was leaking oil while in storage....

Update. got it back together, pressure testing right now, and holding at 15lbs. Should be good to go. Thinking I should do my bellows and lower shift cable. Cable is over 10 years old, and I assume it does wear? Bellows look fine, but are 8 years of freshwater use...... thoughts?

I think I found where my drive was leaking oil while in storage....

Greetings all. My boat was stored in my shop all winter, but I did notice that the cardboard under the drive had a oil stain on it. The boat is a 1986 with an alpha one, gen 1 dive. Did a quick pressure test, and the pressure dropped within a hour. I pulled the case apart, and it looked like the...

shift cable question while doing my trim sensors....

Thanks for the quick reply. If I remove the hinge pins, will I have enough room to get to the two bolts for the plate holding the wires in without removing the bellows? That would be awesome ;-) I keep reading how hard the bolts are to get to. I do have 1/4" flex head sockets and offset...

Howdy, Started my project of replacing the trim sensors and wires on my 1986 Alpha One Got the drive off, and getting ready to pull the pivot pins and sensors. I was thinking I that the entire housing comes off once the bellows are unhooked, but then I noticed the shift cable. Do you need to...

1986 Alpha One has leaked oil since service....

Thanks so much for the feedback. Love the links. I plan to dive in in the next couple of weeks. Ordered more gaskets, and they should be here next week. I am betting that the seals around the water pump is where the outdrive oil leaked out. From what I have found online, a vacuum test is not...

Thanks for the input. I am sure I have the factory manuals here, will need to wipe off the winter dust. Just ordered the rest of the gaskets and stuff. Will plan to pull the drive next week. I understand the bolt for the sensor wire hold down is a pain, so I will get myself up to the challenge...

1986 Alpha One has leaked oil since service....

Well the weather is finally changing here in Oregon, so getting ready to pull the drive. Is there a good link on how to change the seals, or is it pretty straight forward? I did buy a Marc water pump kit, which I think has all the seals, along with some Marc Oil. I was thinking this might be a...

1986 Alpha One has leaked oil since service....

Happy New Years! So, I got my boat winterized and water pump replaced last November, and stuck the boat in the shop. When I stored it, I put cardboard down, and lowered the drive for winter storage. When I was walking behind the boat, I noticed a small oil stain on the cardboard. Need to go...

Attwood Blower replacement in my '86.....

Howdy, My original (?) Attwood blower is making some bad noises in my Chris Craft Scorpion. In looking at the specs for mounting, it looks like the Rule 140 & SeaFlo has the same mounting holes as the original. Any advantage between the Rule 140 vs SeaFlo vs the Attwood Turbo 3000? I guess I...

Slow leak- Trim Line Manifold or trim sensor wires????

Howdy, I have a 1986 Chris Craft Scorpion with a Alpha One. I had the boat serviced, and had the bellows all checked. I do get a little bit of water inside the bilge, that I have been chasing. Before I tear the engine out, and do the seal around the transom, I wanted to check a few other items...

Transom Seal question....... Merc Alpha 1

So, let me see if I can make a long story short. I have a 1986 Chris Craft 210 with a 5.7 Merc, Alpha One outdrive. Boat has about 900 hours on it. Many years ago, I hit the skag on a rock, and it locked up my lower drive. Had it replaced, and then the upper went. So I bought a new Merc...

Alpha one transom plate gasket replacement?

I have a 1986 Mercruiser with a 260HP motor and alpha one. I am getting a bit of water in the bilge, and can't see where it's coming from. The bellows have all been replaced, and wondering if the transom plate gasket is something that should be changed after a certain time or hours? Boat has...
