    Looking down on the outdrive out of the bell housing, counter clockwise I turn in a little bit clockwise, it goes into neutral, and a bit further, it seems to lock in reverse.....

    I will check that, but it looks like the shoe fits together. If the washers missing, I would think that the shift shaft would not go together. But will check to be sure. Thanks for the idea!

    Thanks for the feed back, I did use the molded water hose. Seemed easier to attach it to the bell housing first, then push the gimbal side into place. Hose clamp was a pain, but it worked. Now I am ready for the U joint bellows, and I don't see how to tighten the clamp. I checked the factory...
