    Great video. I learned a few tricks from this, maybe it will help others. I highly suggest every one to watch this if they have a broken bolt. Regardless, the engine is still going to the machine shop.

    You can try removing the thermostat first. See what happens.

    I removed the engine and will have to get a machine shop to extract the broken studs. Is this a doable job, and can it be costly?

    The bellows kit came today, it's actually decent, the rubber is real nice, the gimbal bearing is real sweet too. I purchased mine on eBay from a local dealer in NJ instead of Amazon. They had some good feedback on Ebay, so I purchased it from them $46 + tax. Some pics.

    Another Question: Would I be needing the Quicksilver Power Tune Spray on a Mercruiser Alpha One Gen One to help attach the Ujoint Bellows.

    Yeah your good as long as your running water in it with a garden hose etc.

    Has anyone used Amazon Bellows Kits? If so did they hold up. Just getting some ideas before I purchase a Bellows Kit. I'm probably only going to need the Bellows is all. My Gimball Bearing and all the other parts are fine. Just curious to know if the actual Bellows are halfway decent. Thanks

    When I pulled the sterndrive today, the whole u joint was rusted. I think I forgot the Oring. Please Read.

    I removed the upper main gear from the sterndrive and noticed that the seal this sits in was bad, it appears to be compromised by water. The gear itself had rust on the bottom, shown in photo.

    If the upper and lower shaft seals are bad would that cause water to get into the bellows on the upper unit.

    Do you mean the thicker Ring at the beginning of the bellows? If so yes it was fine and in tact. I'm assessing the upper and lower shaft seals after I remove the upper gears... If these seals are bad would that cause water to get to the u joint?

    It wasn't the Oring i found it Laying on the ground. What else would cause the water to get in. Maybe the drive shaft seal in the upper part of the sterndrive?

    Ughhh, When I pulled the sterndrive off today the whole u joint assembly was rusted as shown in photo. It was fine last year, but I believe I forgot to put the large Oring in for the water feed, as (shown in photo below circled in yellow). Could this have been the main culprit? I'm thinking...

    What I had noticed prior to the starter bolts snapping off, was that the engine when it's hot seems to have quite a lot more cranking torque in the ocean and doesn't start right away unless I give it a slight throttle, compared to when starting it hot in my driveway with earmuffs.
