    had spark b4 i replaced starter rope on a 1974 # 110 9.8 hp now none at all. think it's a type 3 ign. molded black box, epoxy back, wire's molded into it. 8 wire. got out my ohm meter. every thing checks out under fly wheel. did coil test ohm meter only each one was ok. dont have a amp guage to...

    merc 9.8 can it start in gear ?

    will my 1974 merc #110 9.8 hp start in gear or is there a neutral safty start some place ? :confused: still have not got this motor to run yet. it would run a few second on carb cleaner. when sprayed into carb. it was stuck in REV now i got it in Neutral. not sure if it jumped a tooth or so...

    stuck in reverse help

    i just got a used boat with a merc 110 9.8 HP motor on it was told its a 1978 or a 1979. :D never owned a merc befor. so whats the oil fuel ratio on it. also with out the motor running i can put it in gear and it's like its still in nutral. does it need to be running to shift ? :confused...
