    Thanks! It has been covered or under a carport the whole time.. Fiberglass floor with no carpet and everything feels solid.. I do have a pressure tester for the gear case and will test it when I drain the lube.. Transom is made of Seacast composite when I restored it about 10 years ago.. 1981...

    Fill and vent hoses were replaced right before parking it. It had the original 1981 fill hose! I will pull the inspection cover and see how they look...That fill hose was a nightmare to change! Also replaced tank and sending unit at that time and added a screw on fuel filter in the bilge.

    Seafoam is good to clean the pistons if you mix it heavy...Done that before but not your problem. Look on the transom bracket for a serial number plate..

    So it should be fine to use in my old outboard? It looks like good oil from what I have found.

    Hopefully no critters...It looked good last fall when I put another cover on. Yep,getting new tires so good time to repack the bearings! My steering is stiff so I have a feeling it needs replaced....ugh! Thanks!

    Anyone heard of Mystic gear oil?

    A buddy of mine give me 4 bottles of it. It is blue like the OMC oil and says compatible with OMC,Mercury and all outboards. It says Mystic JT4 on the bottle..... He brought it down when he moved from Wisconsin.

    Triple guard grease is the best I have ever used! Grease everything with it! Splines,mating surfaces,Prop shaft,etc... I just bought 6 tubes of it!...lol!

    First thing I would do is the compression test! I have had them run great on the hose but like crap under load... At least rule that out before spending anything more on it! Also from what you describe it sounds like it may be overheating..... The water pump Impeller should be changed every 3...

    Looking to replace the cables but can not find them in a set for the rotary system. Have not taken apart at the helm yet because boat is covered for the Winter but the original dual setup from 1981 is gotten stiff to turn. I know hydraulic is expensive but wondering why nobody lists a dual set?

    Yep! All of that is on the list too...Steering is a little tight...hope greasing works. Dual cable rotary....Not having much luck still finding those. May go to hydraulic if I have to!
