    Lost gearage?

So one last question...my alternate upper unit is an alpha 1 gen 1...so obviously can't use my gen 2 lower... any reason I can't put a whole alpha gen 1 outdrive with same gear ratio as my alpha 2 and mate it toy transom? I sourced a 21 x 14.5 prop BTW... Thank you in advance...

Thanks, no the transom is fine, but moreover, I'm wondering if an upper unit 1:50 wouldn't be close enough to my 1:65 to be able to compensate via prop pitch adjustment? Is it possible?

    1970 181 to a 1978 181 different engine harness?

You probably know this distinction already but just in case...make sure as to whether you are talking about your "gimbal bearing" as opposed to your "gimbal ring"...two different animals, just a heads up as others have confused the distinction in past posts and concerns.

    Lost gearage?

Ok, got Cha, thank you all for your time and efforts. I now have what I need to go forward...anything else I need to be aware of? Meanwhile, so disassembling and replacing and shimming the gears with new is something I want to avoid? And is such to costly to pay someone to do for me?

    Lost gearage?

Well, that seal goo was me being in a hurry just to make everything was covered...not very sophisticated I'll admit. So, now what should I look for in searching for a replacement? Ok, but if my budget falls short of an SEI replacement, what ratio would I need to find in a used unit? I mean...

    Lost gearage?

Ok, but isn't the upper gear set determined by the tooth count of the gear in question?

Ok, I'll go have a gander this am. Meanwhile, Bondo, I understand that one can count the teeth of the gear to further verify...but what gear does one count from?

    Lost gearage?

Well, it has an angled fin coming down from upper unit. Does that help? It also has a dipstick on top of upper unit cap...any other way I can qualify it? Thank you for your time and insight sir.

    Lost gearage?

Greetings, I have a 92 mercruiser 5.7, serial #0c460205, stern drive #0c581330... So, I ran her quite a few runs up and down the river. I typically am very careful of fluid maintenance, operation maintenance, and safety are my main priorities. No one else takes on those concerns nor should they...
