    Swapping gear case to different lower unit question

    Im just curious weather i could take an upper gear case off a lower unit that has the type of drive shaft WITH the spring loaded pin on top and put on a lower that does not have the spring loaded pin WITHOUT having bearing shimming problems. In short, does that pin change shimming or preload?
