    Manifold Change

Hi Scott, I’m on muffs from a hose.

    Manifold Change

Alright, got it all reassembled and it fired right up. Lower unit seems to be cycling water but it’s not getting to the manifold. It started to overheat and when I pulled the plug by the thermostat, there was no water flow. The water coming out of the exhaust wasn’t hot, either. Seems like there...

    Manifold Change

You think so? More pics attached - tell me what you think. This is from the starboard side, which have the most visible deterioration.

    Manifold Change

Update: all bolts broke loose without issue. Bullet dodged there. Alternate problem: the risers that came in the kit are not a match w the ones on the boat. The boat currently has 1.7s, which these are not. Is there a better solution to this than returning and repurchasing the match? Maybe an...

    Manifold Change

Good to know - I will try and remember that in 7 years when I have to do this again. Thank you!

    Manifold Change

Up front: -I’ve owned the boat 4 years and have no idea when the manifolds and risers were changed last. -Spent many years in salt water in VA Beach, then 2 in brackish water in MD. -It’s clear from the attached pictures that they have been partially changed at some point ( looks like OEM on...

    Blowing 20A Fuse

I am unsure - it is literally just labeled "FUSE".

    Blowing 20A Fuse

Ah - fair point. It is a 2007 Mercruiser 5.0 w a Bravo 3 outdrive in a Sea Ray. Here is a previous post I made on this topic. Truth be told I forgot I had mentioned it before, but if there is something that was missed or an "aha" understanding of the problem that someone has, I would be happy...

    Blowing 20A Fuse

This has happened 3x in 3 years but I am blowing a 20A fuse that is next to my battery selector switch. There are 3 separate fuses back there: 1 for the radio (15A), one for the bilge (7.5) and on that says FUSE (20A). It has happened after cruising or applying power, so there’s no real clear...

Blown 20A Fuse on Mercruiser 5.0

It is a 2007 Sea Ray 240 and a Mercruiser 5.0. What would I be looking for with a volt meter?

Blown 20A Fuse on Mercruiser 5.0

I am pretty confident the contacts are clean, but I will double check tomorrow. And the fuses are all individually labeled - one for the bilge, one for the radio, and the unspecified one is for the 20A fuse that blew. It is directly next to the battery switch. Could running the boat on both...

Blown 20A Fuse on Mercruiser 5.0

I will take a look at that tomorrow for sure. I keep it at the Marina now and need to give it a once over before the weekend. Thank you for the response.

Blown 20A Fuse on Mercruiser 5.0

I get that, but they’re usually labeled for a specific device. This one literally just says “fuse” and has red wire connectors. Close up pic attached.

Blown 20A Fuse on Mercruiser 5.0

It looks like everything’s clean and tight - it’s one of the fuses right next to the battery switch and it’s literally just labeled “Fuse”. I think it’s literally a failsafe fuse.

Blown 20A Fuse on Mercruiser 5.0

Got it - that’s my fear. I’ll do some googling, but if you have any suggestions about how to diagnose something like that, I’d appreciate some pointers.

Looking for a good hangout on the Potomac in Stafford

We launch out of Hope Springs Marina in Stafford and I am looking for a good spot to hang out with a decent beach. Tim's and the other restaurants aren't too far but there are a few too many folks there for my comfort with small kids. Any suggestions around where I launch from? Thanks in advance.

Blown 20A Fuse on Mercruiser 5.0

While cruising, I lost all engine power and electrical systems simultaneously at around 3800 RPMs. I figured out it was a fuse nearest to the battery switch (pictured) and it was a 20A fuse, for which I had a replacement on hand, luckily. I had no issues on the 20 min ride back in. My...

    Engine Bogging Down When Cold

Well, she ran like a champ. Don’t know if it was solely the sensor, the distributor, or the thermostat, but replacing all 3 definitely fixed it. Thanks for all the help, everyone. I’d say you won’t hear from me soon, but I don’t want to jinx myself. Take care and thanks again!

    Engine Bogging Down When Cold

Cap and distributor replaced. Old one pictured. Water test tomorrow.

    Engine Bogging Down When Cold

It’s just a short ride from the dock past the no wake zone - hampered the fun. Either way, I’ll let everyone know how it works with the new sensor and thermostat once I get it on the water this weekend.
