    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I tend to agree . . . I could put both trims on the port side panel and move the fuel over to the starboard side panel or . . . I could put the trim display on (and in addition to) the tachometer displays for closer proximity, and maybe free up a whole panel area by moving the fuel gauge to...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Thinking ahead as I get ready to take things apart I am trying to figure out what components should be removed and what should stay. A lot of it depends on engine choice. Here is my instrument panel drawing . . . If I go with Yammy or Zukes, then everything 'Mercury' related would come out...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

The factory OB versions of this boat (CY 338) have a 230 gallon fuel tank, which stretches a little further back towards the stern than the sterndrive fuel tank (150 gallons). I'm not sure of the rationale behind the different sizes. . . I would think 150 gallons would be enough and my...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

IDK . . . maybe. Not sure how I could tell. Anyway, enough changes to the boat are forthcoming, so AF protection will be at a new starting point.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Focusing on the design, I did some force calculations just to see if things look reasonable . . . . . I did not take the buoyancy of the extension pod into consideration, just the weight of the engines and pod/bracket. 3K + lbs at the top of the transom seems a bit high, but the design allows...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

IDK . . . I Googled it a few years ago and that term seemed to come up. It does not seem to mind the AF paint . . . There was a lot of growth this year.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

late August - September is tough on the boats . . . always has been around these waters. I should plan a mid-season haul-out for a quick power wash and re-paint. The sea moss is a new thing . . . maybe it likes this boat. Never saw it on my previous boats.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Yes, the past few years has been a lot of sea moss. I use the same AF paint as I always have, but perhaps I need something different.

    Flat tire on haul-out today . . .

Yes, I'll have another go at it to see if I can find out what is going on. I was not wanting to do the sharp turn down my road with only 2 of 3 wheels. So, I pulled in forward to assess the tire situation. Tomorrow will be all about turning the trailer around to be backed into the driveway as...

    Flat tire on haul-out today . . .

As I was pulling the boat out for the season today, I noticed the port side front tire on the trailer was flat. Since the trailer is tri-axle, I limped the rig home at about 20 mph. (not far) . . I put the spare on . . . and in doing so, I realized that I need to get some better (more...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Here is another reason to go outboards . . . . . At least the engines/props would be clean :ROFLMAO:

    Loosing Faith in Humanity . . .

Quick Update . . . I've listed about 25 items on eBay. Half of them have sold totaling about $1K. I'm getting about 67% of the gross as a net into my account. 🤪 The other stuff has been on there for a couple of months, and I am not sure at this point if it is worth continuing to list them...

    Flux Marine Outboard Engines . . .

Probably similar conversations were happening 120 years ago when there were horseless carriages. "Where are they going to get gas for those things" . . . "who's going to fix them when they breakdown" . . . "and they so easily get stuck in the mud"
