I agree. When the burn over powers the flavors there no point for me.

I had some Elijah Craig barrel proof 129 proof yesterday. Had just a bit straight over ice. That stuff is strong. Sipping a whiskey at that strength didn’t really do much for me.
Try it neat, the ice will cause it to bite a bit more

i did a distiller tour in CO once and they had us do neat (no ice) then one large cube, wait one min and start sipping. Ice does cut.

When i drink i succumb to my fav which is gin and i do one the rocks so cut it a bit.

I'll give seagrams lime a try. I generally drop a couple of ollys in the Gordon's minus the wine. On ice of course.

if we are doing things to gin, my father taught me to love a gibson martini.
