    1980 Anchor Plastics DeckBoat Sportsman?

Hi A fellow is selling a deck boat made in 1980 by Anchor Plastics in Gatesville Texas. Company is no longer in business. He says it has a DeckBoat chrome insignia on it and a decal reading, "The Sportsman". It is one of the 18.5' models from that year. According to the iboats database that...

Fiberglass deck on a 1980 Anchor Plastics DeckBoat Sportsman Deck Boat?

A fellow selling a partly restored 18.6' 1980 DeckBoat brand deck boat made by Anchor Plastics in Gatesville Texas tells me the boat's deck is made of fiberglass rather than wood. Don't know whether it is the "Lo Decker II" model or the "BoatDeck" model. He said it has "The Sportsman" on it. He...

Dremmeling off end, grinding out foam, replacing foam, welding end back on U shaped?

If the foam is wet in a u-shaped pontoon, why not just cut off the end and weld it back on later? Just leave a foot of air space. Maybe fill in the final foot via a drain tube after the end is welded back on. Why couldn't the wet foam be ground out with a grinder attached to a stick? Could get...

A fishing boat and motor light enough for two to carry up and down river bank?

Re: A fishing boat and motor light enough for two to carry up and down river bank? That Gruman looks like a canoe we could put a motor on. Might be just what we need. Or maybe one of those shallow plastic things. But I don't know whether it would be safe on the river. We'll be using that white...

A fishing boat and motor light enough for two to carry up and down river bank?

We can trailer it to the river, but there is no boat launch near us, so I thought we would hand launch it. I assume aluminum would be lighter than fiberglass. Plan to fish from it. River runs too fast to paddle back upstream. Any suggestions?

Using standard bunk trailer for octagonal shaped pontoons?

Considering an older Kennedy pontoon boat with octagonal shaped pontoons. Too long for shorter trailers with rollers made for Kennedy's current line-up of shorter boats. Any suggestions for how to tow an older, longer Kennedy with its octagonal pontoons?

Were 1984 Kayot 24' pontoons chambered?

The photos I've seen from that year and the one before don't seem to show vertical welds on the pontoons, except at the front nose section. Did Kayot not chamber the pontoons at that time, except right at the nose? I've read of U-shaped foam filled pontoons, pontoons made up of separate...

Late 70s Weeres or dented late 80's Leisure Island?

The dent is several feet long along the bottom and may be from someone storing it by putting the pontoon on a concrete block rather than storing it on a flatter surface. Dented pontoon pressure tested and doesn't leak. Both are 24 foot boats. Assuming all other nice parts and problems are...

What is worst case scenario buying old pontoon boat?

The thing seems initially relatively inexpensive at under $4000 but is a 1982 24' boat with some damage: A third of the carpet is missing, so I plan to remove it all and maybe paint the deck with some sand or something for grip. The furniture is gone. The lights may or may not be present...
