I bought a 1960 something 40hp Johnson Super Seahorse. It came with elto controls. Is this normal?
Also can you tell what year and model number just from the serial number?

I hane an older 40 HP johnson Super Seahorse outboard motor and the model number has been worn away is there any way of telling what the year and model number is just using the serial number?
the serial number is C 523649
