Well took her out for a little voyage with my daughter down the river and she ran perfectly! Not a drop of water in the bilge and the engine ran great! Even in the long slow no wake zone, no sputtering, just consistent putting. Can’t wait to get into a lake and let her rip! Got a few pics, but...
Thanks, glad to have found this little group! It appears tri hulls are getting more rare, although I see lots of them yet all over here in Wisconsin. Maybe they survive longer here because they can only be used 6 times a year before it’s -35 degrees out again.
I definitely agree, aluminum with an outboard, especially an old omc, is about as reliable as you can get! After this Hy Ryder I’ll likely be going brand new and getting a StarCraft or Lund fish and ski type of boat.

Yup I passed on all those and some others after looking at them and finding lots of soft spots all over them all. The Twain had a really soggy floor at the rear. Even a 1990 regal I looked at had floor rot!

Interesting about the sizes! Wisconsin is one of those states too. Registration for a powered boat of less than 16’ is like $20 here. And they don’t even need a title! I’d bet that one is one of those that’s 16.5’ but classified 15’. Nice test with the bouncing too, I’ll remember to do that.
