Steering system for small outboards, shifter idea?

There are many used units on craigslist. To build one takes a bit of work. The older controls are probably easier to convert. The tube should accept the Teleflex rod. but realize that you will not have full left to right swing of the motor due to the length of the rod throw on the Teleflex...

    Change to side steering

I agree 30 hp would be the most I would use a Stick on. I had a stick on this boat mounted behind the Gale control you see in the picture. It can't be poorly designed, so meone's life may depend on it!!!!

Pvany you are my last hope!

Your kind of talent and honesty is hard to find. I wish I was closer to Buffalo. I have posted on the mercury topic here and on mercurypartsus.com.. not one response. The Mercury dealers around here don't even know what a 15 hp 4 stroke Mercury/Tohatsu is much less understand it's quirks. I...

I have had intermittent problems with my 15 hp mercury. It is getting worse. When I run wot for a period of 40 minutes or so it cuts out and stutters. It isn't fuel because it starts right up. I have replaced all fuel lines, filter and cleaned the carb! The engine is not overheating, a new...

    Garmin Map Chip Information

Is anyone using the Garmin lake vu hd chip on their chart plotter. Is it good or just unusable ginger bread. I am also interested in the US coastal G2 chip. I have looked and looked and I can't find any detailed info anywhere! mainly on Long Island sound.

Is this the best place to ask about the chart/finder quality?

I lost my old garmin gpsmap 398! I have spent the last ten days trying to find a reliable unit to replace it. From what I have read Raymarine makes the dragonfly 5, but their support is slow. Hummi makes a nice unit but the gps is weak ? Garmins maps and graphics don't give any land or road...

SN 0t987569 Motor can run at top rpm and drop a cylinder in and out but not enough to lose speed? new plugs, checked connections, compression is good will not stay out enough to diagnose. Resitor plug caps look good on a meter. I know it could be coil but the motor has around 300 hours on it...

    How to remove ugly paint

Re: How to remove ugly paint After you put on paint remover you will find a course block of green scotch brite 4"x 3" x1" with a handle on it at Home Depot. It works very well. For the seams and rivit lines 3M has a yellow rubber disk that has abrasive in it and little fingers that cleans...

    restoring a 57' aluminum boat

Re: restoring a 57' aluminum boat Kogan, There aren't many steps to this system. Brush compound on to the alum. you want to polish and buff it until you cut through the anodized surface. Wash down with soap and water. Your problem is that rivit lines and recessed seams will be...
