i have a 1977 70hp johnson outboard and i need a new gear control cable. problem is here in the UK i can't get hold of a cable to fit. the teleflex 479 type cable fit 1979 onwards and apparently i need a 400 type cable. the difference as far as i can see is at the control box end...

I have a 1977 Johnson 70hp outboard with (i think) an original control box. after posting on here last week about a sticking control concenus of opinion was a split cable and after inspection i found a rather large split in outer casing.
So......i'm now looking for some replacement...
