    Tilt/ Trim under power

Thanks Frank, You have been helpful more times than I can count. If you ever choose to host a weekend workshop I will be the first to sign up. I should say that my rebuilt and ported 125 has been running flawlessly this year. Thanks again

    Tilt/ Trim under power

I am noticing that my 125 Force will trim under power but only go to the tilt if I am at idle speed. I don't have a problem with this but I would like to understand how this is controlled.

85 hp Force float bowl springs

After mentioning to a friend that I am somewhat familiar with these motors, the boat now rests in my yard and has become my project. We have good compression and spark. Carbs are a mess. Someone tried to silicone the bowls on. I have the carbs apart and noticed that there are no springs attached...

    Gauge selection Force 125

With my rebuilt Force 125 broken in and running fine I am on a mission this winter to fit my Checkmate with water pressure and temperature gauges so I can start raising the motor for optimal performance. I'm looking for a temp gauge in the 60 to 200 degree range. Any input on gauges you guys...

    Force 125 fuel delivery ?

After toying with this all summer I'm stuck. I now have 10 hours on my rebuilt (ported ) 125. It starts and idles beautifully. I can cruise at 3500 to 4200rpms all day and never misses a beat. But, if I throw the throttle down hard it will run like a bear for about 30 seconds and then die. I...

    Tiny Tach troubles

I'm using a Tiny tach on my 125 Force. I've installed it as per instruction but I'm struggling to get a consistent read out. I've tried 1, 2 and 3 wraps in many different places on the #1 wire with no luck. It seem to read high #s most of the time. 1/2 throttle is showing 6krpms. At idle it...

    81 Checkmate Restoration!

Re: 81 Checkmate Restoration! I used to do upholstery and canvas for a living. I now do it part time when I can. The money and hourly rate you were charged seems about right. At least here in the northeast. As I said, looks great

    73 Checkmate MX-16 resto/mod

Re: 73 Checkmate MX-16 resto/mod I thought I'ld bring this old thread back with an update. I bought a new acrylic windshield for this boat last summer. The aluminum frame was pitted and full of holes from rivets and snaps. I took it to my local welder and he filled all the holes. I then spent...

    1985 force 125 no spark

Re: 1985 force 125 no spark If your control box looks like this one you push on the center rubber the allow for fast (warm-up) idle. Oh yea, I did paint mine white. It took me a while to figure this out.

    Chrysler Bling

Re: Chrysler Bling I used parts from three different 125s. The hood is off a 1986. I should mention that I had to make repairs on all of the plastic pieces. I used epoxy and mat on the back sides, epoxy and cabosil to build up new screw holes, and a bit of bondo on the face. Here are a couple...

    Chrysler Bling

After rebuilding my 125 Force and mounting on the back of my freshly restored Checkmate, I decided the hood needed a little something to dress it up. It kind of looked like a refrigerator hanging on the back of my boat. I decided to use the same script that is on my 2000 Town and Country. It...

    1949 lapstrake, epoxy or not?

Re: 1949 lapstrake, epoxy or not? Thanks for all the input, I've asked my brother for some more recent photos. I'm 250 miles away and will only be able to work on it occasionally. Here are a couple of pics after a good washing. In the transom shot you can see a crack that runs the entire width...
