I'd like to find my grandfather's PPK. I don't remember if dad had it or his ahole brother ended up with it. Beyond that I have so many just sitting that it's almost a shame.

The 25w40 merc hasn't lost pressure hot in my application while the diesel oil did. I also don't have the balls to run the thing flat out for more than a 2 minute stretch... you realize how short the river actually is when you do that and it just sounds like abuse on the engine in my hull. 3800...

There was a white paper done a while back. Took a bunch of cams in, I think small block chevys. (Note lake cites this test constantly) and then run and put under a scope and wear and particle counts measured. The diesel oils constantly had ~double the wear rate vs even current API formulations...

And still a worse performer on flat tappets. Go figure.

I like the one where he tests rotella and it has the worst flat tappet cam wear of all the tested oils.

Hot rodding a GMT400 the swap was always using a marine MPI lower. The point was to get the injection spider out of the air flow path. I remember those used to be 3-400$ like new at the time. The automotive lower is a... very cheaply cast aluminum vs the iron marine which is marginally better.

When dad used to wrench, he was the only certified mercruiser tech at his shop. He had all the outboard certs too but was the I/O guy. I don't know if they still do separate but imagine they do.

Wonder if they're billing you for two 4 quart containers and just keeping the extra quart. I'd assume a dealer would have drums of oil... but my Chevy dealer uses 1 quart bottles for their oil changes instead of bulk. I can only assume someone either double or forgot to fill an engine one too...

Guess I'm a flea now. A rare day I had time to do something for myself. Put 8 hours on the ski this year and 50 on the boat. That's just sad.

Just coat the exposed wood with a thin 2 part epoxy. That's already more than the factory probably did.
