I just picked up a motor (1971 Evinrude 6hp), and I am having problems getting it going.
I put new spark plugs in, and have been pulling away at the starter for a few days. It started twice for about 15 seconds over the course of the last few days.

This 71 Evinrude 6hp Fisherman is new to me.
After putting new plugs and gear oil in, I pulled twenty times, and it finally fired up - for 15 seconds, then fizzled. Twenty more pulls resulted in nothing.
Same thing the next day - ran for fifteen seconds and fizzled, then wouldn't start again...
I'm a first time boat owner in the Phoenix area, and want to thank you for any suggestions to help me get this motor running.
