    Kicker on a CC?

Good idea in principal. However, if you have a fuel problem, neither engine will run. My personal setups have different gas tanks for the main and kicker. Also the mains are electric start, while the kickers are manual. If the battery goes dead, my kicker will always run.

    Kicker on a CC?

River trolling is for Muskies. The river current where we troll is about 1.5 mph, so a GPS is of no value. I use a paddle-wheel, which is very accurate. My speed is 1.5 mph with respect to the water. So our land speed is slightly above 3.0. We always troll with the current. The "long"...

Can i cut my bunks down?

A tongue weight that is too low is dangerous. I don't see why a tongue weight can ever be too high, unless the tow vehicle can't handle it. I solved the garage problem with my first boat. I cut the drywall out between 2 studs, and then parked the boat with the motor sticking in the hole...

    Need advice

My boats are equipped with marine radios, which have weather channels on them. As far as weather, that's all I ever needed. On another topic, I don't watch farce book ((formally known as X (or whatever)), so I don't need a smartphone, and don't need any stupid apps. Now, I confess, I have one...

    Marine Insurance

The problem in our boating community is that there are way too many boaters that are sure they don't "need" insurance.

    Marine Insurance

It's the old guys that always lure me in with low rates. My current agent is very young so maybe he'll outlast me.

    Price

    Price

Look up the published value on one of the sites like NADA for boats. That is a starting point to tell you what its worth. I am assuming that the $10k price is for a new engine. The boat and its current engine are 25 years old, which is past its service life. IMHO $8k is way to high for a 25...

    Kicker on a CC?

I've had a kicker on every boat I've owned since 1970. They have never used a common fuel system or battery. My current 2 boats had kickers installed before they hit the water the first time. We troll with long lines in the Niagara River and Lake Ontario. 1.8 mph to be exact. The original...

    Marine Insurance

Why? Because I didn't accept a huge rate increase and went with another company?

    Marine Insurance

I had the same agent for about 25 years. He had my boats, cars and house. When I bought my first RV he told me to go elsewhere. He was an Rver as well and said that XX would beat his policy. Then he died. His replacement screwed me, so I went elsewhere. Then I met another guy from the...

    Marine Insurance

My BoatUS covers fines for a little over $1 million. My new Progressive is only up to about $900,000. After signing up for the Progressive for the 'ski, and finding it so cheap, I looked into my auto as well. It's also a significant savings. I have not checked yet if the auto/home discount...

    Marine Insurance

I've had Boat US / Geico for many years now. When I checked they were always the most competitive, plus the almost unlimited towing coverage and zero deductible were additional benefits. I just got my "jetski" insurance renewal and it went up 41%. I have a 820 credit rating and have never had...

What gives with helping people with a problem ?????????????

My opinion is that most of the "Lost" posters really didn't believe the suggestions, and / or found them too expensive or complicated, and thus never followed up anyway.

    Winch replacement suggestions

Way before straps were invented we used a rope. My boats were always garage kept, nevertheless rope longevity was poor. One year I bought an aftermarket steel cable and the crimped fitting on the hook broke the first time out. Back to rope. A few years later I bought a much larger boat...
