No dipstick on 1989 era 3.0L?

We have a 23 Traverse and a 25 XT5. Both have dipsticks. Previous cars were 2017, 2016, 2011, etc. They all had dipsticks. Can you give an example of a car that doesn't?

    Aluminum Boat Paint

I use Moeller for aluminum outboard motors. However, with the seats and everything a spray can would not be too convenient to use on a boat. I checked and I can't find where they offer a brush-on version. Rustoleum DOES sell an aluminum primer in quarts. The TDS sounds good. I just wonder...

    Aluminum Boat Paint

Just finishing up the restoration of a 60 year old tinny utility. The only thing left is to paint the inside deck (floor). It is green now, and mostly intact except for spots worn from feet. Looking for recommendations for a brush on product. Looking for flat green, could be non-skid, but...

    Getting impatient

No Spring work for me. I only maintain in the Fall just before deer season. My annual procedure is to fill up the gas tank just before I back her in the garage. Half the morning to change the fluids, and the afternoon to polish the upholstery and hull. The corner of the cover is easy to pull...

    Side Bunk Placement

All very true. We are lucky where I live in that all of the state and local ramps are built to a reasonable standard depth and angle. Nevertheless, we have been to a couple of private campgrounds where the ramps were challenging, to say the least. A bunk trailer will always be better with...

    Side Bunk Placement

That looks like a beautiful trailer. With all the rollers why do you need side bunks? If you launch and load with the rear roller just underwater, the side bunks should never come into play. Regardless, since they are already there, I would just keep them in the same position.

Can I buy a trailer online?

My first boat was a plywood runabout that I built in my Grandpa's garage. Local dealers wanted to sell me a package, but were not too interested in selling me a trailer by itself. Those that did inflated the price. I ended up buying a "Kit" all roller trailer direct from Holsclaw. It was a...

There will be a shortage of parts in areas that had freezing temperatures for the first sustained times.

The last time I winterized was in 2018. Haven't done it since then. The Summer of 2019 was when I got rid of that pesky old I/O. Now we're 100% 4-stroke Outboards.

Pink Super Tech (Walmart) -50 RV and Marine ok for engine?? I always thought NO...??

The AF thing wasn't really a big problem. More of a nuisance really. Going to outboards solved a whole bunch of even bigger problems.

    Aluminum Boat Paint

Well then I was misinformed. They guy at my local paint store told me that some time ago. Since than I have been using the other options, but I must admit that they are not as good. What IS banned in NY is oil based house paint. I can buy a pint of Rustoleum oil based enamel, but gallons are...

    18ft aluminum boat v hull

The transom corner posts and the seat brackets look just like my Sea Nymph. Post a pic of the side profile. Regardless, it's NOT a Jon boat. It's a V-hull utility. Measure the OAL and beam EXACTLY and I'll look it up in my collection of catalogs.

are these gel coat cracks or something more serious? (pic included)

In the first post when you said a 39 year old fiberglass boat, my first thought was "no way" even before I looked at the pictures. Surely, if cost is no object, and the boat is just what you want, then no discussion is needed. Regardless, my prediction is that after a couple of years toiling...

    Aluminum Boat Paint

Zinc Chromate is not available in NY, and hasn't been for 25+ years. What I use is Rustoleum Acid Etching Primer, or NAPA Acid Etching Primer. I use brass wire wheels. My "Toy Boat" is really not a dinghy. It's a semi V Sea Nymph 14R, which has a deep freeboard. It used to handle 2 fat...

    Aluminum Boat Paint

Back in the 1960's I used the zinc stuff on a few motors and they are still pristine today. Unfortunately, it's not available any more. (EPA you know, at least not in NY). Acid etching primer is OK, but the long term durability won't match the old stuff.
