    New old boat checklist.

A wise man would pull, clean and repack the trailer bearings, too.

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

I did that, too. Worked very well.

95 Sea Ray 230 Sundancer stringer repair

Same. The idea of doing demolition work (and cleaning up said work) more than once makes me itch just thinking about it.

    Family of 5, 19ft or 21ft?

Our family of five has a 19' bowrider that we mostly trailer to nearby rivers (Mississippi and Illinois rivers). When you load a 19 footer with 5 people (and honestly, usually more than that because the kids will want to bring a friend), cooler(s), beach bags, tubes/skis, etc., the boat gets...

    Swap wood panel in upholstery

I’d use the polyurethane rather than traditional varnish. Any solvent-based poly should work. I treated a transom board for a small aluminum boat with the old timers formula (poly-mineral spirits-boiled linseed) and it really does soak into the wood much better than a surface application of...

    Swap wood panel in upholstery

Marine ply should work fine, but I would seal it with either epoxy or Old Timers Formula to give the wood some extra years against moisture intrusion.

Best diet to lose 20 lbs?

Moreover, folic acid (Vitamin B9) is crucial for making red blood cells, producing DNA, and supporting rapid cell growth.

    Boating GPS

We boat on the Mississippi and Illinois rivers mostly, and we've had good luck with our Humminbird Helix 5 with CHIRP & GPS. I bought a separate SD card that has detailed maps of Midwest rivers and lakes. It's definitely worth it. It includes all sorts of details like underwater cables, sunken...

    Time for a new mattress

We bought a Winkbeds Gravity Lux mattress 4 years ago and it’s been great. No saggy part and the mattress is very comfortable.

are these gel coat cracks or something more serious? (pic included)

I have to agree with those who say the transom (and probably stringers and other structural elements) are rotten. To make the boat safe, you'd likely be looking at a gut-and-rebuild. If you don't want to restore the boat, and if you're getting a great deal and can sell the trailer and part out...

View of unloaded trailer with pickups

I put guide poles on the rear of the trailer largely to help with backing the empty trailer. The poles help immensely.

Alpha 1 Gen 2 - leak & transom service questions

Q5 & Q6: use Merc/Quicksilver parts. This job is too much of a pain to mess around with anything but Merc parts.

Aftermarket Mercruiser parts, What are you using???

For a critical part like bellows, especially since they’re a pain to change, I only use Quicksilver parts.
