I believe the subject engine is a '97 Carb'd model.
I'm looking at a boat 2 of these engines, I thought the SaltWater Series engines were fuel injected.
Are the newer fuel injected plug and play with the older Carb'd engines?
Went to look at the boat today, not in the water.
Can't really tell if the exhausts have been worked on or not.
Is it realistic to say if they haven't failed before 900hrs they are OK?

After initial launch I determined my port HP Fuel pump was bad, I disassembled the VST (which was beyond dirty), cleaned it well and replaced the screen on the injector line and HP fuel pump. Costs were <$100.
Now both engines are running very well, so far I am pleased w/ my purchase.
Recently installed a pair of new to me '05 175 Evinrudes.
Launched boat, started engines w/ no problems, idled @ 650RPM after warm-up.
