So as some of you know I did a restore on this 18' Supersport and put an older 1978 140hp crossflow johnson on it. Its been a good engine, but I've been trying to find a 150hp looper to really max out this boat. I got a donor boat and am in the process of making the switch. Hoping in the next...
I have a LU available to me, it's over an hour away. Anyone versed with them enough to tell me if mine will swap out with the one available? I have a 1978 140hp V4, and the one available is unknown year 115Hp V4. Thank you!!!
So I have a 140hp johnson. Runs great, excellent compression been a great motor. The transom saver I use punched a hole in the side of lower unit. Is this a fixable repair? Or is the LU trash? I was considering trying to braze the hole with acetylene and aluminum brazing rods.
so I obtained an 18' SS that has been somewhat restored/ turned into a fishing boat. I want to rehab and make it more of a fish and ski. Some of you may remember my 16' SS restore. The information I obtained here was invaluable. Soooo here I am to steal ideas again LOL the previous owner...

Re: 1958 Johnson 35hp running on one cylinder
So I cleaned the points with all the carbon on it. And while inspecting the point with the carbon buildup I noticed that it looked like it wasn't hitting aligned. I'm wondering if that gap is creating an open spark allowing the carbon buildup. But I...

Wood on glass Im a complete novice with engines. It's inconsistent spark on the bottom cylinder while running whether cold or warm engine. Top cylinder is always getting spark. I removed the flywheel today and inspected the points one point is very clean the...

So the splash went well! The boat floats and there's no leaks lol I did however have a couple of issues, First off I hooked the steering up backwards right was left left was right lol That's an easy fix though. However I did have some engine problems. The...
