    1978 Islander 22 I/O

You are off to a very good start, and good choice on the replacement engine. And a note, based on that rating plate (and the paint), that boat is likely a '79. You might take the Hull number of the back corner when you talk to SC and see if they can provide more info.

    Trouble with hull ID number

You have an interesting story. I'm wondering if somebody has done some work on that boat and mixed up tags and paper work. Being from MN, I know from personal experience the DNR can be somewhat "loose" with boat reg's. If it were me, I'd go the route of transferring it to "me" in MN and have...

Help! Looking for info on my boat-which model is this?

look near the motor controller, riveted on the wall near it should be a rating plate, on it the Model will be stamped. An EXAMPLE is attached.

    New Journey

I wish I had seen this 3 weeks ago, I just parted with my collection of TOP's, including 2 that actually had Ok compression.

    New Journey

Good seeing the kids w/fish. And did I miss something? Are you putting on twin 115's? If so, that will be fun.

What is the biggest motor my Starcraft will handle?

Here is a rating plate from a '72 SS 16. If you measure yours from the back of the transom to the front of the bow cap and get 16' 1/2 ", your plate would be the same. It should be next to your motor control.

    Boat is slow

We have a SS 16, not sure how the hull compares to a Holiday, but, 75 hp prop IMO about the best match, I've been in SS16's w/70 power head (OMC) and that was under powered. have also been in a 16 fishing version with the old 4 cyl 50 merc, w/2 that is also way under powered. We have the older...

    1963 21' holiday outboard

That style plate was used in 71 and 72, either the boat is newer or the plate replaced. here is a plate from a 73 21 ft holiday O/B

Inherited new boat. Unsure what it is exactly

Agreed, it's either well modified or newer then '65. Post the S/N and I'll take a guess at the year. Hint - the 60's have a number that usually starts with the year (2 digits) - ie; 67 xxxxx.

    1975 SS160 weight?

Under 1500, easy - for the boat. The early SS16 was listed at 600, the later ones at 650. Max HP weight - depends on your motor - a V4 OME and/or Merc I6 will be about 300 or so. A battery - 100 each - 200 for the 2 So this get you to about 1,200 before gear (for the boat). The trailer weight...

    New to me 1970

S/N 1024483 is in the 1972 range, and the features on the boat match others in that year. I have 2 others close to yours, S/N 1011783 and S/N 1029468 that are indicated as '72. All this is really just for fun, as the hull and boats don't change much through the years, it really comes down to...

    New to me 1970

Is this the same boat? One of the pics you posted clearly shows the rating plate, even with the poor angle, I can clearly see Super Sport as the model, and what appears to be a SN. I looked close at it and compared it to others I have, The plate has been off, ie, not factory installed, and...

    New to me 1970

Can you read the number - 1970 numbers are in the 95x,xxx range, the 1971 in the 99x,xxx range and the 1972 in the 10x,xxx range.

    New to me 1970

Nice boat - similar to ours, but with that safety glass windshield it's a bit newer then '70, maybe a '72? What is the S/N on the rating plate?

StarCraft holiday 18ft 3.0 to 4.3 swap, good idea?

I was considering this on a boat project a few years ago. I was looking at donors that were either junked or damaged and scrapped. The problem was I'm in MN, and it gets cold here, and often boats that are either junked or scrapped are not serviced for winter, so many potential donors had...
