Hi, been through the forums can't seem to find an answer. I have a 1967 Evinrude 40 HP model 40753E A couple of days ago I took it out and it acted like it wasn't getting fuel. Took off the filter cover and sure enough the screen was clogged. I tore the gasket a little when I took the cover...
Ok, I can shift through FNR on the side of the motor by hand with no problem...but the shifter feels a little sloppy. When the simplex is connected, the cable won't push the shifter far enough back to go into reverse. I can tell because it doesn't slide all the way into the indent on the rod...
