Looking for some help to get back in the water. Currently boat is moored and have no easy way of taking it to mechanic.
Problem. Boat lost power all of a sadden cruising at 4500 rpms. Checked for spark. Nothing. few weeks prior, motor was behaving strangely as if one cylinder was...
J90PLSIG.
At times it takes 4-6 tries to get it started.
When running WOT, motor does not get above 5100rpms. It has a jet pump.
Before starting, primer bulb does not get hard when squezed. When pinched fuel line before the motor it does get hard.
Suspecting a hole in the fuel pump diaphraghm...
What type of tester do I use to check if I am loosing spark when running. Is there any thing that will remotely connect so I can se a missfire. Will Adjustable Ignition Spark Tester do the same by increasing the gap.
Plan on buying this type of motor.
After hearing horror storied about Fitch, I would like to ask recommendation,.
Since it is also fuel injected.
Should I steer clear or is it a good motor?

I am planning on repairing the hull that got worn out from beaching it on the sand and such.
Will S-type be overkill. Tap plastics are not far from me and seems that they don't have biaxial cloth.

Motor will not turn over when using the key. No power to the starter.
Seems that the signal is lost somewhere.
The motor will get started by jumping the starter.
Can someone point out where the fuses are located on that motor.
Or any thing else that can be checked.

What would be a proper way to treat that wood for good looks and longivity?
I know, but they don't make those hard tops no more. I called.

Can someone clarify for me the operating range for the above motor.
I think 5,100-6,000 rpms.
But I wan't to be sure.
Also, why is it recommended to be in that operating range. Fuel economy, longivity?
Previous owner painted sides and the bottom with automotive paint or else, i don't know.
That paint is blistering and peeling off.
What type of paint strip/remover should I use?
How will new gel coat react with paint stripper? Will paint remover be easy to wash off once done?
I have gotten 96 ELPTO with oil injection, have not had time this winter to take it out yet.
Just have few concerns in regards to reliability of oil injection.
1 What kind of maintenance does it require?
2 What to look for to make sure it is functioning properly?

Got little electrical issue, power trim/tilt goes only UP when battery hooked UP, when I press down button it will trave down but as soon as I let go it will go UP.
I think I got some corrosion in one of the swithces or relay.
Can someon post a pic of the Electric Schematic Diagram.

Motor idles fine and does not seem to loose much power.
Just don Seafoam tretment and seems to run better.
Recently I had covers off and notice a spark jump from underneath the rubber boot towards spark plug. Tried crimping the commector and put some dielectric grease on the connector and...
So I got intermitten probles once in a while, seems that motor does not run at its full potential cetain times.
So I am just checking thing out, Tilt the motor UP and squize the primer bulb.
What I hear is fait whissing and some fuel dripping(Whith the motor tilte UP).
