I believe you got it. If i am following correctly you are saying it was a premolded section added in. In this picture the area in red was an area where water would pool
because it wasn't flush with anything. Like a minature pool.

Thanks Wood, I've gotten this far, still a long way to go.
but i am looking to plan ahead for when i get to this area.
The red lines are fiberglass and i guess gelcoat top to the hull, nothing in between.

OK I made a little progress. In the picture the arrow points to where the plywood ends. It is 8 ft long, a standard sheet.
What would i use as an underlayment or something to build up the fiberglass towards the front?
