    I’m a big believer in using muffs. Absolutely no question water goes everywhere. Does flushing water actually get down to the impeller using the flushing port? Not so sure.

    Just for the hell of it, humor me on this… Disconnect one spark plug and try to run the engine and see what happens. Now reconnect and disconnect the second spark plug and see what happens. Let us know The results.

    You can buy muffs anywhere that sells any boating supplies, even Walmart and Amazon. Get the muffs….way easier than manhandling a 55 gal drum. Just google outboard motor muffs.
