    The older switch is NLA and the newest shift plate has the updated switch and according to mercruiser the new switch does not fit the old plate so you would need the newer type to connert to the NC to interrupt the power to the coil to stumble the motor

    Did you clean the tube with a wire or brass shotgun cleaning head? The cable should go in easily with no binding thru the guide tube Every season you need to manually apply grease to the rod to prevent binding

    I also had a plug blowout .The final cause was the clip inside the boot was missing and the plug wire was arcing to the top of the plug.

    are you absolutely sure you have a 350ci inch 5.7 motor? Almost sure the boat performed well before the cracked block and now it never did.
