Recently purchased a 2006 Yamaha F150. Boat has always been tied to a dock in the water. Bottom of motor mounting bracket covered in barnacles. Tilt/trim motor works but won't go up or down. Someone has broken the head off of the relief screw. Will removing the motor relieve pressure so the...
Okay, I've attached a picture of my gauge and the little "icons". The description says the images are for "overheat", "low oil level in main tank", "low oil level in remote tank" and some sites say the little oil can is to indicate low oil level in a 4 stroke, but others say it indicated low...
I have 1998 version digital Yamaha 6Y5 Speedometer and tachometer. When my alarm sounds, I have 4 "icons" at the bottom of the tachometer. They are for low oil in main tank, low oil in remote tank (obviously no longer needed) oil pressure and overheat. When the alarm goes off a light comes on...
After many years and thousands of hours, I had to say goodbye to my '98 Yamaha 115. I've recently hung a 2006 Yamaha F115 4 stroke. I plugged my wiring into the "new" motors 10 pin harness and it fired right up. However, my 1998 6Y5 tachometer isn't communicating with the motor very well. My...
You are 100% correct. It's not at all a fuel/air mixture screw. The air and fuel are metered by jets. Those "PILOT SCREWS" only adjust the volume of the fuel/air mixture that is used at idle and up to about 1/4 of the full throttle position. Screw out for more fuel, and in for less fuel.
I have a '99 Yamaha 115 (S115TLRX) While rebuilding the carbs, I lost a small stainless ball that locks the choke into the on/off positions. It fits into a hole in the side of the carb and has a spring behind it and it "locks" into holes on the choke mechanism to lock the choke in the on or...
Fixed it! Thanks for all your help guys! Obviously, I COULD do it without you. I think I need to find more of an outboard repair forum. This just isn't for me. But I'll leave knowing I've contributed more than I've received, so I feel pretty good about that.
So long!!
Before I go, I'll...
A couple of weeks ago, I cranked up the motor and was getting it ready for an outing. Went to tilt the motor up and nothing. No sound, no movement. Checked everything out and it's a bad pump. Getting power, but doing nothing. I turned the screw to release the tilt/trim and still could not...
What you need to be correcting is the point where the float turns fuel flow off. The drop of the float is unimportant. It will sit on the bottom of the bowl. With the carb off, slip a piece of clean fuel line on the nipple where gas goes in and blow on it. Lift the float with your hand and...
Thanks, but the motor is all the way down. No fluid in the system. All 3 pistons are all the way down. All I can fill is the upper overflow tank. Will that eventually make it to the pump somehow? I feel like I am causing problems by running the pump dry.
Bolts broke when I attempted to replace my tilt/trim motor, so I removed the entire assembly. Now that it's all put back together, I've put everything back together. While the assembly was off and I was repairing broken bolts and getting it all fixed, all of the fluid leaked out all over the...
