    1994 Force 40 Winter is ending...any day now... We had a warm day and I started to go thru the engine before the season. I shifted it up to full throttle and everything looked good, when I shifted back down it stayed at full throttle. I can shift it down at the console, but will not go back...

    You called it. One washer was in the wrong place. Put it back in the correct spot & It is all good now, thank you!

    I did not replace any parts, I will go thru it again and check all the washers

    When I loosen the two Allen bolts on the prop shaft cover it loosened the prop shaft up again. But the Allen bolts are then loose, not tight at all.

    Rebuilt the whole lower unit, shifting well and everything lined up, but feels very tight when I turn the prop by hand. Is that just because there is no oil?

    Made a puller with 2 hooks, 2 bolts and a 2x4. Worked great

    It was the clutch dog, getting it machined to square those edges . Thank you everyone for all the advice!
