Looking at the manual while cleaning my carbs, I noticed that my carbs are missing the screen and shutter.
Should I order them? It is obvious that the screen keeps out large pieces of debris, but what does the shutter do?
Getting ready to remove and clean my carbs on an 81 115hp inline 6.

Set the idle timing at 6 atdc. Manual says 6-7 atdc.

1 of 2 switch boxes are bad. Should I replace both? If it is okay to switch one can I replace it with aftermarket and leave the original merc unit in?

no spark on 2, 4 and 6 when starting.
Verified by testing that the rectifier and stator were bad and replaced them, still no spark. coils are good.
Other than swapping switchboxes is there an easy way to test? I have heard of a test on the cdi website but can't find it.

Changed the lu oil before taking it out, it was milky. New screws with new washers, threads seemed fine. Test, pulled the boat out of the water and noticed my new oil (now milky) leaking from the vent screw.
