Should there be two wires on the same post? 82 115hp inline 6

I just replaced this rectifier and have not put power to it yet. There were some "mods" by the previous owner and I want to make sure things are correct before connecting the battery.

This is the way the previous one was wired.

Is this a signal wire for the tach?

Yes, One of the yellow stator wires will provide the signal to power the tach.
