I dont think it matters dealers choice. On my set up the lags were easier to get to with a wobble extension due to a side panel that made the bigger nuts harder to swing off.I've never pulled a motor by removing the screws holding the mount, always removed the top nuts and rear bolts. It might be easier to do so I just have never done it that way
Only thing I don't like about removing the lags is messing around with a penetration into wood. Mine are gooped in there pretty good with 4200 now.I dont think it matters dealers choice. Oh, I didn't know that you align it while it was still hanging. I had planned on using my brother's shop to drop it in, then once I got it home worry about aligning it. I just wanted it to be dropped in real quick. Is that a problem to do it that way? Or is it just easier to do it while it's still hanging? It's not a thing. You hang the motor from the hook, and rear mounts. Align, then add the mounts, then realign
Yeah that's what I had taken into consideration, the only reason I did it last time was so that my alignment would be pretty close to where it was (ended up being exactly where it was didn't even need to align it) . That's why I was asking because this time I'm going to have to align it regardless..Only thing I don't like about removing the lags is messing around with a penetration into wood. Okay thanks. I just needed to make sure it was possible without it hanging, because I might not have that option. I was just wanting to drop the motor in at my brother's mechanic shop and then take it home and deal with it from there. I didn't want to take up a whole bunch of their timeMuch easier when hanging, but possible without. Raising/lowering the front with a hoist is much quicker than turning the adjusters individually a turn at a time.
You do It either way but hanging is easier but I could shove my engine around when sitting on the engine mount stringersOh, I didn't know that you align it while it was still hanging. Okay I have found this engine on eBay, was just about to purchase but then I realized it said it's a TBI motor. Does that mean it won't have the mechanical pushrod installed for a mechanical fuel pump with the lobe on the camshaft? And it does not have roller cams? I have messaged the seller but received no response yet. If that's the case should I stay away from this one? Also if that's the case I might as well go back to vortex if I have to add an electrical fuel pump?Yes, that is a carter electric pump
it depends on what block they used for a core. the block with out the fuel pump provision have the boss cast just not drilled so they can be drilled out for a mechanical fuel pump. I would wait for the seller to confirm.@all

That motor is a TBI swirl port motor. not worth it unless it was the last running block on the planet and you had to rescue yourself from death.
that is a significant step backwards from a vortec headed motor
Lol. Point taken. I guess my confusion is I thought they were all the same,
. I got the motor pulled today, a guy who helped me looked at the head he said it lost a valve seat and ended up in the Piston chamber and chewed out the Piston
Evans lost to GM in the Courts.GM got their butt spanked on the LT1 reverse cooling by both John Evans (on the cooling system) and the patent on the Ricardo combustion chamber. in 1996, the Ricardo patent hurdle was cleared when the vortec heads came out
If the bore is good, a piston/rings/rod assembly from GM is cheap
