Any reason to fix my wiring kludge?

My 25 hp '04 2 stroke had a hard time starting, then left me dead in the water. Short story, no spark. Took me a long time to trace it to a partial short in the engine harness connector, which was leaking 3v into the kill switch circuit. Thought it was in the key switch, since I had the box open and was messing with it last week, but it was actually within the molded rubber. Rather than jump a wire and splice into harness (or of course get a new harness), I used the yel/blk wire from the control box, and made a small jumper to connect the motor female bullet to the harness female bullet. So no cutting or splicing, and all factory wire intact. The wire I used is for the electric choke. The choke solenoid has long since rotted away, is NLA, and is completely not needed on this motor. Other than confusing the next guy that will need to get in there (me), any issues that I'm not thinking of?

Gee, if the OEM wiring harness is going bad. You could replace it. Your spark vanishing is bad, no?
Yes, I liked the idea of not splicing in any wires, I didn't see a harness readily available, and I'm back on the water the next day. The spark has made a remarkable reappearance.
