Open to opinions on alternative flooring instead of plywood. Cost effective ways , Anyone use road signs? (Don’t laugh some are aluminum) most likely I’m going to go plywood and carpet, but aluminum and foam/seadeck just looks so slick,

here’s my converted , in process, ongoing build,

cheers

I see Tilsonburg or Southern ,Ontario.-----Yes I like the idea of recycling material that won't rot.-----Judging by the frame work, the road sign will work.-----If they are free then go for it.

49E is a Tilsonburg registration from the old days.----I am using 1/2" foam board with kevlar / carbon fiber / fiberglass on each side.----Not cheap but strong and durable.-----Visit ----noah's---- Or ----cccomposites canada-----Candy stores for folks wanting to repair boats.-----Both in the Toronto area.

Huh, down the rabbit hole I go looking for that foam board... super stiff? What’s 4x8 cost?
Thanks in advance

How did you decide on the fore aft location of your cc.?
Completely on a whim. I wanted 48” long seats in the front so any adult could put they’re feet up.
Once the floor is done, I’ll make the console (I’m far too cheap to buy) then I’ll ensure I have enough room to walk around, in front of it, with a fishing rod in my hands.

All .125” thick. It’s Way overkill but readily available, cheap, and I’m not getting any lighter.......

Did I miss what size boat she is? Nothing like a good glasser for a donar boat.

Welcome aboard,

I see you're doing a Holiday to Mariner conversion. All the deck bracing looks really good.

Some info for you and something to think about. That era of SC has no hull braces that isolate the spray rail chine right above the seam. That is a known failure point where the side can split out of the older boats, that and the rib end cracks were cured with the addition of the braces. You can see them in my 79 SS under the rib ends. I added them to my Chief to keep the side from splitting and add rigidity to the hull. Those 2 issues are found for the most part when the boat was used for a long period of time with compromised decking and side panels.

I plan on adding wall structure to tie in the gunnels to the floor in these highlighted spots , wondering if I should add bracing where your have them.... nows the time 100%

I guess with your suggestion I should tie these gunnel/floor supports into the sides of the hull also. I plan on adding a German adhesive (Weicon HT200) to fill all areas like weld, incredibly strong stuff, and not affected by UV.

A1D8157B-2374-4755-BDD0-C9B8677570E2.jpegIn case anyone was curious , Weicon 310 is an adhesive and 310 ht200 is actually powder coatable it can withstand 375 degrees without effecting strength. not effected by the sun (uv) and doesn’t deteriorate with aging

I sell a ton of it to a mist collector manufacturer and I have another shop uses it to replace welding, crazy CRAZY strong , very cool company, they have other adhesives that are actually stronger then weld.... that would tear aluminum instead of the adhesive failing.... shitty sales pitch over, I plan to add this every I see beneficial , with a 200hp going on the back, I need all the strength I can get.
