I'm kind of slow and stupid but does this mean BRP will no longer produce Evinrude outboard motors ??

I think they are admitting ignoring 4 strokes and sticking with 2 stoke technology, even as advanced as it is, was a marketing mistake as borne out by falling sales. Merc has dealers on almost every corner and Evinrude service is hard to find.

Actually it's bad to lose one more 2 stoke maker and probably raises the price of Optis for those really wanting a new 2 stroke.

A total surprise I would say.-------But BOEING just announced cutting 12,000 jobs as well.----There will be more surprises too I think.----Perhaps they are looking at battery powered boats in their ---" new future "-----Change is constant.

should have sold my rig….last year but I must disagree that 2 strokes was a mistake. 4 strokes only came about as a solution to older oil dumpers yet the ETEC technology solved the problem winning EPA medals since 2005 when I went for my 75hp ETEC . BRP itself was the mistake and run by poor management who sold off the company bits by bits like their excellent C series renamed Airbus A220 . the Cseries was probably suffocated with high import tarifs which Airbus circumvented by moving production in the US located plants.

Remember the Arrow jet… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avro_Canada_CF-105_Arrow

Problem now is parts supply as they only have to keep parts for 5 year old motors for warranty. All other parts will fall to wayside along with other jobs from their their suppliers. Now only source will be aftermarket(limited). Anybody see $$$ going up?

NLA was already starting to show up on the parts list for my Ocean Pro.

If nothing else this is a good excuse to try and convince mama that I need to replace my motor sooner than later.
