Well if you can offer an alternative that does not involve hot ovens or cold dirt 6 foot deep, I would sure be glad to listen!
I am thinking hibernation. They do say we might get above freezing by a couple degrees in a few days though.

OMG ( Not the Area Code), I am moving back up to The North. They are making plans to salt and plow roads here. We don't even have snow in the forecast, just colder than normal temps. Just plain nutz!

they call off school yet? They did that a couple times here last year.

Two things that I cracked up at from last year and the year before: callin' off school for the threat of a flake. That still makes me laugh. I get it when something actually falls and they're concerned about the hills and curvy roads, but just the threat of potential precipitation conditions and - POOF! - school's out! Love it.

The second thing: I think the State of TN has about 200 snow plows total. And our biggest expense (I think) from 2012 snow plowing was replacing all of the reflectors that the plow rigs sheared off of the highways.

It was so cold the yuppies from the south had 2 sweaters around their neck. LOL

Again, a funny thing about down here: during our coldest points of the winter - you know, 31 degrees F :D - the folks down here pull out their Patagonia, North Face and Carhardt coats. All of these sub-zero coats, and I still can run around in a sweater vest and a pair of gloves.

We Southerners are a little funny about the cold.

I grew up in Pittsburgh and the Admiral is from Galveston. It's chilly (mid - low 30's) here with some wind. I'm running around in a sweat shirt and the wife is dressing like she's on Shackleford's ill-fated Antarctic expedition.

I will say, when I lived in Houston cool weather was harder on me. The combination of the cool + wind + humidity cut right through me. High or low humidity really makes a difference. Same thing in hot weather, except 115 in Phoenix frickin' hot!

How true, humidity plays a huge factor whether its freezing or boiling.

It's funny how people go nuts over a few flakes falling. You can always tell the transplants the first year they're here they're the least prepared, and the ones walking around with this dazed look like " My realtor said it didn't snow in Tennessee." The second year they make a mad dash to the stores to clear the shelves of the basics. You know milk, eggs, and bread! So they can make an omelet to celebrate being prepared.

They still don't know nuttin'. No beer on the shopping list!

GA - the Admiral and I are about like you and yours: She's in wool from head to toe and I'm still in shorts.

I will say, when I lived in Houston cool weather was harder on me.
I'm actually really a funny paradox. My pituitary pretty much shut down about 10 years ago, and one result is that my body doesn't regulate temperature well. I start sweating at about 75 degrees, and I start shivering at about 50. That gives me a 25 degree window of "not being all that whiney."

You know milk, eggs, and bread! So they can make an omelet to celebrate being prepared.
That's funny ... and so true. Even the local radio guys get the gag here in Nashville: "they're predicting flurries in the morning ... milk & bread people, milk & bread." :D

ROFL, this is no joke. I live just south of Fort Worth and yesterday saw a character in shorts, with knee high socks, a hoodie and a sweater over that. He was trying to do his 'cool' walk from his truck to the McDonalds, without much luck.

Do you think the guy reading the newspaper is dealing with it or just stuck in sad situation while looking for the next airing of "Game Of Thrones"?
