1962 10 hp stuck in reverse

I can move the shift lever to any position, but it's no use. I have removed the access plate and can see the connecting rod, but it does not move or rotate when I move the shift lever.

What do I need to do?

Sorry, but you have to remove the powerhead and fix whatever came loose under there. The special wrench will help get those nuts off. I heated one red-hot and bent it.

Yep, sounds like the small cast piece that connects the shift rod to the shift arm has broken. I might have a spare if you need one...
