I am thinking about buying a 1974 21' starcraft supersport. It does not have a motor. Transom is in good shape but floor and interior need to be replaced.

The specs for the boat note up to a 195 hp outboard can be put on it. Does anyone no how this boat handles and what would be a good motor for it?

The seller wants $950-00 which I think is a little high. Your imput would be appreaciated.

Would it be better to look for an I/O instead of an outbord Supersport?

ANY Starcraft is good ;) A starcraft w/o power can be a problem. For outboard boats you need to have at least 70-75% of the recommended HP for the boat to perform properly so you would have to locate a good 150 at least. 150's in MO are plentiful but you have to watch what you purchase.

You might be better served getting a boat, power package and trailer as a unit.

I/O do get better fuel economy in the long run. What would be the primary purpose of the boat? I would start from there.

That's a really good price for a 21' SS. I'd be all over that. I would think a 140-the max would be good motor-wise.

Hello - I have a boat thats in the middle of re-flooring. as stated its a 1974 21' StarCraft Super Sport with Trailer.

The hull is sound and has no leaks, the transome is in great shape as well...the floors needed to be replaced so I began the project...to which I have zero time to spend on it.

The Trailer has rollers on it and is in great shape as well.

This is a great Project Boat for someone with the time and place to work on it.

There is NO MOTOR, this auction is only for the Boat and Trailer

950.00 Firm, Please be only serious offer only.

Email me with any questions.

The lower right picture might show a big dent in the hull. Not sure though.

Not in my opinion.

What you have there is probably the most coveted Starcraft hull ever built. I've only seen a few, usually they are listed as 22' Supersports.

iboats member ozzgood2001 rebuilt a 22' SS last summer. They are great rigs for fishing or whatever. I'd like one myself if you can't tell, but my 16' will get me by for a while:D

Here's a link to ozzgood's 22' SS if ya want to see the potential

I would try to pay less than $950...but for a rare hull like that I could see paying it. The real cost is going to be the 175hp outboard for the old girl:)

i think its just the camera playing tricks... the pic on the lower left looks the same... its a wierd angle.

IMO this boat is TOTALLY worth a grand, no questions asked.

Why is this hull so coveted? I also am looking at a 1974 18" supersport with a 140hp I/O.

Well the hull is worth the money due to it's size and how tough they are to find. Try to get it for $500-750. Trailer looks rough (although solid).

Which boat do you think would be a better investment the 1974 21' outboard or the 1974 18' I/O?

there werent a whole lot of them that came with outboards. besides, 18' ss are fairly easy to find, but you don't see a whole lot of 21 and 22 footers... ESPECIALLY with an outboard.

Re: 1974 21' starcraft supersport

It comes down to supply and demand.

There are thousands of available 18' Starcraft I/Os out there for a good price, in running condition or otherwise. Since folks tend to buy the nice ones...the rough condition hulls go for dirt cheap.

There are hardly ANY 20'+ Starcrafts set up for an outboard and as a result, people are willing to pay more for them.

Andy is right on with his post.
