Re: Starcraft Supersport The Project Begins

Another cheap alternative is tractor and implement paint by Valspar available at Tractor Supply. Under a hundred dollars for reducer, gallon of paint, and hardener. I have never used this stuff, but have been intrigued by it. I have been tempted to buy the smallest quantity (quart I think) I can get just to try it out on something.

I prefer that any paints I use have a hardener in them for longevity.

Chris

I did use hardener in both the white and yellow ;) The hardener will prevent fading and oxidation.

I love it. Glad you went with the yellow. Can't say I'm a fan of the yellow on the transom board though.

Re: Starcraft Supersport The Project Begins

LOL ..... I am so undecided on my transom board....... It was plain wood coated with epoxy.... it was white....now it's yellow and I have had plans of installing a sheet of stainless over the top or maybe go back to white.

I have to repaint my engine cover since I repaired a bunch of dings on it and I was considering using yellow and white on that too...... oh heck I really don't know....

so confused.........

:D

I actually have considered a clearcoat over everything with a pearl additive but that is on the back burner too........

Wow she looks great:)

Looks faster already, gonna be a yellow blur on the water with your "healthy" 85hp

I've been wondering for months what my rig would look like with a true white instead of the off-white/yellowish white from the factory. I can stop wondering now!

The flip has happened :D Now for the interior, the motor, the electrical, the wires, the seats......

Flipped it over onto boards, backed up the trailer....tilted the trailer..... used the winch and guided it on.

Looks great back right side up! I think I see a now-white transom plate?

Yes, I sanded and repainted the wood plate all white ;) Now the real fun begins.

Now I have a windshield I bought last year but it reall will not fit....... I was actually considering cutting the twin consoles down so they are flat across the boat. Right now they have a slight pitch and are higher in the middle. I will have to put the windshield up there and get a better look.

Re: Starcraft Supersport The Project Begins

I have been modifying my hosclaw trailer....... and ordering parts. The way it was set up did not leave me choices on where to mount the lights and guides so..... I have been adding steel...... I almost forgot how much I enjoy welding ;)

My outboard tilt tube where the steering tube goes through is rusted beyond use. There are no threads left to secure the steering so I ordered the parts. Once those parts arrive I will tackle the outboard....... I have a suspicion that I will just cut the old tube into pieces to get it done fast.

I have also been working on all the odds and ends...... We have had 50-60 mph wind here for the last two days  which makes life interesting....... It shakes to boat like it is on the water.

Re: Starcraft Supersport The Project Begins

I did not add guide on's yet but I built the steel where I will mount them and the lights.

I bought a 12' piece of 1-1/2 x 2" angle iron 12' long ....... it is 6' across the back bent forward 22" the back to the bunk mount. It is just about the same width as the wheels. I intend on mounting the lights on the corner's and the piece that goes up the side is where I will mount guides.

I am considering bunk guides and I will make more supports forward of the wheel same as ezmobee's ...... I have had them before on other trailer's too.

The angle iron is cheap since it is only 1/8" thick and not heavy....... it's for supports and lights.... plenty strong..... It looks like the Hitch Platform but it is part of the trailer now. http://www.amazon.com/Masterbuilt-H2A-HITCH-HAUL-Cargo-Carrier/dp/B0000BWGY6

Bob, sometimes I think you and I should have a race to see who finishes last! Every little bit of progress feels good. I've found that ordering stuff and buying tools is good motivation. Available time also helps:).

Re: Starcraft Supersport The Project Begins

Every time I sit in my yard with a cup of coffee my brain is making a punch list.....I really should do a paper one today.

I have decided it will no longer be a bow rider  Okay people don't panic........ I intend on having the entire front area a casting deck w/o room for your feet. I actually want to extend the deck between the consoles and make room for rod storage.

My seating plans are on hold. I can't decide on what my buget this year will support.

Yes, ordered the steering and some linkage parts. Ordered new decals for the OB and I have to fix a few places on the cover.

My boat has carpet on the top of the gunwales and I am going to replace that...... wow the glue that was used for the old carpet is a gooey mess. I have been using my angle grinder with a cup brush but it is messy.
