Help I think I have BAS . On a brighter note was just wondering if I can join the fun of the exclusive Starcraft club :D. I picked this one up today 1970 Jupiter V 16' have to go back tomorrow and pick up the rest of it he has everything for the boat including the top and windshield . The P.O. media blasted most of it so its almost ready for paint and otherwise in awesome shape has a 1970 80 HP Merc hangin off the back that is original to the boat . I also got a huge file with all the mainennance records since new with it :D.

Way to go Rick!! :D Would you like to pay your annual dues all at once or go on our easy 4 payment plan ;)

Great looking boat. Yup 80 hp merc with that OEM 2 blade prop should have it scooting along in good shape. If I am not mistaken that merc was 80hp at the prop...... I know you will see better than 40 mph.

LOL Bob I gave 8 bills for this one and havent sold the Larson yet although I currently have 2 local bidders :D. I guess I better use the easy payment plan since I still have to sink a pile into this one ;):D.

Re: Starcraft club can I join ?

Original windshield too......plus a top and maintenance records..... that's a big score!

How was the deck in the rear? As soon as I get done doing my patio job for the wife and I ...... I will get back on mine. I have the exact rig but mine is circa 66.

Do not skimp on the painting. Even though it has been media blasted I would touch it up and still use the zinc chromate primer.

Light sanding....
Alodine or vinegar and water.....
zinc chromate
and good paint.

Welcome to the Starcraft Armada :D

Bob the deck and Transom seem pretty solid but I still plan to yank them and replace . I only plan to do this one once and what I can see doesnt have any glass on it so I figure yank it and redo it ( not like I have to worry about stringers ) ;). I do plan to take it the rest of the way down and zinc it before painting although I am leaning towards painting the top and bottom and scotchbrighting the sides and hitting it with clear to show off the pretty aluminum :D.

Re: Starcraft club can I join ?

Well I am going to do my deck with 3/4 ply and of course spend a few bucks on a can of gluvit...... I figure I would rather do it now while I have that option.

I did get a great source of closed cell foam from a local company called Pregis..... I got a few samples and the stuff is polypropylene closed cell.... gas, oil, or water do not harm this stuff. I intend on supplementing the styrofoam under the deck and use this stuff under the bow deck and under the side rails.

If you polish the sides you will need to use sharkhyde to keep it looking good.

Re: Starcraft club can I join ?

Kev I blame you NB and Bob for my crazy desire to aquire a tin can :D. I figure I will keep this one and the 60 Cutter ( since its so small theres not alot of wood in it either ) :D. I sold an 89 Dodge truck I got for free to finance this one and hopefully have the Larson and Crestliner sold. That will bring me back to 2 boats and one truck restoration ( and a pond of course ) :D. The other Benny is I beat Bear to owning a Starcraft although I am sure he wont be far behind now :D.

Well Kev looks like 2 super sports , A Holiday or Jupiter ( hard to tell the differance ) :D and the Last one I cant see the topside to tell what it is ( yeah I have been doing my homework ) LOL. I say go get the Blue one you have posted it before I like it and it looks cheap :D. The one next to the yellow hardtop :D.

Re: Starcraft club can I join ?

Well with Airconditioning season upon us I havent ben able to do much more than look at the starcraft ( other than work on SWMBO's POND  ) . The pond is pretty well done other than some rock around the sides and is full of Koi and such sooooooooooooooo. I picked up a 2 pound Gluvit kit today at a local boat supply shop ( great parts guy ) will order pretty much anything I want or need if he doesnt have it in stock and they carry the full Interlux line :D. I plan to get the hull stripped inside this weekend and get the Gluvit in before flipping the hull to finish stripping the bottom and start painting .

Re: Starcraft club can I join ?

Well I managed to get the interior gutted tonight with the exception of the dash and the foot rest up front gonna have to dive under the dash and figure out how its held in :D. The Deck is really solid but its only a 16' boat so I am going to yank it out and replace it with sealed AC plywood ( so I dont hve to do this again anytime soon :D. I found something I hope is good news behind the side panels was white styrofoam planks with any luck thats also whats under the deck :D. I should have the deck out tomorow . I will get more picks then it was dark by the time I got done gutting the interior .

Re: Starcraft club can I join ?

Thanks Bob I was thinkin screws but hadnt crawled under the dash on the nasty carpet :D. I got all the carpet out except for the footrest . I also traded my battery guy a capacitor for his AC unit for a NEW deep cycle battery today :D. I figure 10 minutes labor and a $10.00 capacitor was a decent trade for a new battery :D:D.

Re: Starcraft club can I join ?

Ok Decks out still need to finish cleanup and get some pics. One of the DUMBAZZED PO's actually added wood stringers whiiiiich wouldnt be that bad but they screwed them to the Hull:eek::eek::eek:. Gonna have to get some blind rivits and get them in all the danged holes before I put the gluvit in . I am glad I pulled the deck now and found what had been done and also got out 200 pounds of wet floatation :D.
