My 97 VIP 19.5' Valiant..

had little over a month.. I have been pretty busy on it.
as it sits today.. remodeled the trailer, cleaned, polished,waxed, buffed, and cleaned again, removed stripes, added keel gaurd... and more to come.

day I bought it...not attractive. the selling point was a 13 year old boat that
had sat in a covered boat dock on a lift... less than 100 hrs when I bout it...
stainless prop.. and lots of negative points to drive the price down.. that were easy fixes.. like the trailer and oxidized gelcoat.

Here's mine. 2010 Triton Storm 16' with a Mercury 4-stroke 40hp outboard. It's my first boat, though I've operated my dad and brother's boats (6 of them over the years) previously.

its a 210 hp 4.3 mercruiser... according to the build sheet.. im only aware or 190 hp 4.3... so im looking into how valid that is.

it has a very throaty sound vs my friends who has a high whine... same set up. alpha one out drive and 4.3 from the same time frame. dunno.

Im a fan of 4.3 engines.. I had a 250ish hp 4.3 in a GMC street truck I had build... I left many 350s sitting at the line... however.. the 4.3 in the truck sounded like a ticked off bumble bee at high rpms. vs the 350 sounding sweet...

wish I could get a 5.0 ford into the boat... I love those motors. I have that in my 65 ford.

What did you use to restore the gel coat? My boat is oxidized a little, no where near as bad as your first pic....I'd love to restore it to look just nearly as good as yours does in the second!
