What Brand of boat did I purchase

Just purchased this boat as a project for me and my two boys. I know really nothing about boating. Was just curious if any one might have an idea of the type of boat this is, especially who the manufacturer might be.

Its just like buying a car. The title and/or registration papers will provide the name of the manufacturer. Sometimes it may be abbreviated. If that is the case, tell us what it says and someone will know the full name.

If the boat was made after 1972, the hull number on the starboard side of the transom will show who made it.

since the registration is the legal document, its a 1955 Lowe. probably owned by Marty McFly or Professor Emmet Brown

Possibly a '55 Lund, and someone along the way couldn't find Lowe in their computer system at the DMV, and just assumed it was actually a Lund? I've found all kinds of goofy stuff listed on titles/registrations over the years for Make/Model info...

What brand of boat? That is a serial number, not a HIN, which is 12 or 13 character starting with 3 letters.

Did you get any paperwork, like state registration or title?

I did from last owner but the called a Lowe. I believe it’s older than Lowe has manufactured cause it doesn’t have a HIN

You can do some lookin' HERE and see if any of the aluminum boats match up to what you have.

i know this is probably a futile quest but i have purchased a 14” aluminum utility. The previous owner said it was a 1955 Lowe. They didn’t manufacture then. It’s been painted over but seems like the original paint was green and orange. As far as i found it has no HIN, but i did find a plate with 45-9171-P. Here’s some pics. Anyone got any ideas on the model? Would just like to know when i start to restore. Also the benches are wood if that helps.

jnagraves Since last May you have asked this in three different threads and the answers have been the same - We don't know.

All 3 are now in this thread to avoid future duplicated advice. Please stick with this thread as you finish the the re-do.

Instead of restoring her to original, turn her into what your vision is to be the right boat for you.

We can re-title the thread to a more appropriate resto title if you want. This will tickle the curious to offer advice on the project instead of digging for model information.
