hi everyone,
just bought a another boat nothing fancy just a 16 ft mirrocraft super fisherman sc with a little 35hp Johnson motor...
well normally I would take the boat out and test it on the water before buying, but in this case I couldn't and was assured it was in good shape and only had a minor leak. so I already planned to remove the floor (easy 1 for a change) and tighten/gluvit all the rivets.
so long story short I take it to my camper right after I buy it and was going to take it out and try but the weather didn't let me (which was a good thing) so bring the boat home and it rains here sunday night no big deal I bring the boat into the garage and see water dripping from the bottom of the boat again no biggy it rained so trailer was wet ...... so I thought come to find out the plug was in the boat and rain put a couple inches of water in her.
after awhile its still dripping I start looking around and cant see any reason for it to be leaking from the hull. I start taking the seats and seat bases out and I see the seat base in the back of boat is broken look into the hole and low and behold there's a hole in the hull the same size as the seat base pin !!!!! it had been broken awhile and had worn through after awhile.
heck if I had taken it on the water I would have been sunk literally LOL .... anyway I just wish he had told me it had a BAD leak instead of lying about it (im sure he didn't know why or where it was leaking just that it was)
the hole is between a nickel and quarter in size right above the center keel easy fix with a patch and some 3m 5200 and closed end rivets.
check out the picture below lol
